New from TAMA on 1 September: Starclassic finishes, limited snares and lightweight stands

Starclassic Walnut/Birch gets three new DuraCover finishes: Garnet Red Sparkle, Vintage Champagne Sparkle and Smoked Silver Sparkle, and all three are available in every one of the four configurations. The hybrid shell is unchanged, birch for the defined attack and two inner plies of black walnut for warmth through the mids and lows. Individual 10" toms are currently available in each finish if you want to extend a kit you already own.

Superstar Classic arrives in Indigo Bintangor Burst, a seven-piece maple shell pack including a snare drum, where the Bintangor outer ply gives a fine-lined grain.

Three editions are limited. The STAR Reserve Bubinga/Walnut 14"x5" is built in Japan in 140 pieces worldwide. The S.L.P. G-Maple 14"x7" comes in Twilight Mappa Burl on a thicker maple shell that gives a brighter tone and more volume. The Starclassic Performer Blacked Out Black is matte black right into the shell interior, with clear heads so that interior shows, and a matching 14"x6.5" snare with an Evans Black Chrome head is available alongside the kit.

Two signature snares land at the same time. The Anika Nilles 14"x6.5" is built from seamless aluminium with the new Mod-Tone Muffler, which switches on and off in one movement mid-song. We have two of those in stock. Peter Erskine gets a 10"x4.5" Jazz in spruce and maple, made in Japan, with a Sound Focus Ring on the batter side only.

The Spartan series is TAMA's answer to heavy hardware: the HS70S snare stand weighs 1.6 kg, the HH75DS hi-hat stand 2.3 kg, and the HS4S is a pack of four stands.
