Product Description
The HS4S gathers four stands from the Spartan series in one pack: the HH75DS hi-hat stand, the HC73BS boom cymbal stand, the HC72S straight cymbal stand and the HS70S snare stand. Spartan is TAMA's answer to a problem most drummers recognise but rarely talk about: heavy stands that cost you energy to carry and fiddly adjustments that steal focus right before you play. With the whole rig in one series, the difference in weight and set-up time shows from the first load-in.
Spartan is built from the ground up in aluminium, with every part redrawn to cut weight and size. At the same time, the points that take the wear, bolts and T-nut threads, are made in zinc die-cast and steel. That balance is why the stands feel solid despite the weight.
What is included
The pack contains a hi-hat stand, a boom cymbal stand, a straight cymbal stand and a snare stand. That covers a standard setup with hi-hat, ride and crash. If you need more cymbals, add individual stands from the same series.
What you notice in practice
It is less about individual grams and more about the whole load. Four light stands instead of four heavy ones is the difference between two trips to the car and one. On site the set-up goes faster, because the adjustments are made to be done by hand rather than hunting for the right position.
Who it suits
A good choice if you change venues often and carry your own gear. It works especially well for players who gig regularly, or who share a rehearsal room and need to take the rig home. If the kit lives permanently in a studio, weight rarely decides, and heavier-gauge stands can be just as good a call.
Our Tips
- Mark the stands if several of you share a rehearsal room. Spartan stands look alike and are easy to mix up.
- Set the hi-hat last. It is affected by where the snare stand ends up, and the other way round.
- If you want to expand the rig, the HC72S and HC73BS are also available as individual stands.
