New flagship series from Roland
Roland has released an entirely new Series 7, with a focus on delivering the best possible sound experience by introducing VST-like features. A completely new drum module and three new kits are based on this.
With improved sound experience as the top priority, Roland has just launched a new flagship series called the 7-series. Roland has previously worked primarily with synthetic sounds but is now making a significant step into the world of sampled drum sounds. VST features have been increasingly requested, and Roland has listened. The new Roland V71 module replaces the TD-50 and is packed with top-quality sampled drum sounds, developed in collaboration with DW. An exciting feature is that, with the press of a button, you can now choose between getting a realistic sound experience with authentic drum sounds from your perspective as the drummer or a beautifully produced studio sound.
Some of the key new features on the Roland V71:
- Color screen and improved navigation
- Wi-Fi connection with access to Roland Cloud for direct access to the digital sound library and software updates
- Integration with DW Sound Works
- Integration with a computer-based editor
The integration with DW Sound Works means that, with the help of a computer, you can have full control over the sound library. With the computer-based editor, you get an overview of the module's settings, making it much easier to manage.
New drum pads:
- PD-14DSX – The snare drum now has a more traditional look, with the black rubber rim removed and replaced by a new solution that offers a more natural rimshot function. Additionally, the PD-14DSX now features a snare mechanism(!). Just like an acoustic snare drum, you can turn the snare sound on and off and adjust its character using the snare mechanism’s tuning screw.
- PD-10x and PD-12x are new tom pads with improved sensor technology and a chrome design that matches the PD-14DSX perfectly.
- KD-12 is a new sturdy kick pad with plenty of room for a double pedal.
New drum sets:
- VAD716 – The largest drum set with an acoustic appearance. It replaces the VAD706 but with the same finishes as before. Additionally, there is a new finish called Satin Walnut.
- TD716 – Replaces the TD-50KV2 and features an 18” bass drum and the new chrome-designed tom pads.
- TD713 – Replaces the TD-50K2 and has the pro features in a more compact format than the TD-716, mainly due to the smaller KD-12 kick pad.
