Evans HDD - now also for toms
Evans expands its HDD series – now toms can enjoy the same dual-ply control, vented design, and professional focus as snares and kicks.
Evans HDD for Toms – Total Control and Tonal Precision
The Evans HD Dry series has long been a go-to for drummers seeking a controlled, focused sound. Now the same two-ply design, venting, and internal damping is available for toms too. What is HDD?
HDD stands for Heavy Duty Dry – a drumhead design featuring two plies (5 mil top, 7.5 mil bottom) plus a 2 mil internal control ring to reduce overtones and create a tight, dry attack. The heads also include small vents around the perimeter that help further shorten sustain and enhance tonal focus.
Now available for toms
Previously available only for snare drums, the HDD line is now extended to toms – answering the demand for uniform, controlled sound across the entire kit. With the same tonal principles applied to toms, drummers gain greater consistency and control in both live and studio settings.
Two surface types
- Coated: warm and round with subtle texture for brushes or soft playing.
- Clear: bright and articulate – ideal for modern genres needing sharp attack and clarity.
Practical advantages
- Two-ply film for durability and tonal stability
- Internal control ring for natural damping
- Dry vents reduce unwanted overtones
- Equally effective in studio and on stage
- Unified feel across the whole drum kit
