Product Description
The sE8 is a hand-crafted small-diaphragm condenser microphone from sE Electronics, built for demanding studio and stage work alike. It's one of the quietest pencil mics on the market, with high dynamic range and SPL handling, delivering a balanced sound that's never harsh or aggressive. Ideal for sources like hi-hats and drum overheads.
The capsule is hand-made and individually tuned at sE's own factory. An ultra-thin, 3 micron gold-sputtered diaphragm ensures superior transients, while the newly-developed backplate design provides smooth, natural sound and truly consistent off-axis response. The ultra-precision electrode design is optimized for superb linearity and natural sonics, and the sophisticated acoustic design with precision components avoids coloration in demanding applications.
The quietest pencil mic in its class
A sophisticated electronic design provides extremely low noise without the use of integrated circuits. The transformer-less design gives excellent transparency and clarity, and the proven Class-A circuitry ensures a high dynamic range without distortion, along with brilliant transient response.
Two switchable pre-attenuation pads
The -10 dB and -20 dB pad switches provide extended dynamic range, enabling close-mic techniques for brass instruments, snare drums and more.
Two switchable low-cut filters
Selectable at either 80 Hz or 160 Hz, these filters help eliminate low-frequency rumble or footfall noise, as well as compensate for excessive bass (proximity effect) with close-mic techniques.
All-metal housing with gold-plated XLR
Unlike the cheaply constructed bodies of some small-capsule microphones, the sE8's all-metal chassis provides efficient rejection of electrical interference and noise. The high-quality finish and gold-plated XLR connector ensure a great look and a loss-free, reliable signal connection for years to come. The sE8 also comes standard with a newly-designed mic clip that securely attaches it to any mic stand.
