Product Description
The sE8 is a handcrafted small-diaphragm true condenser microphone pair from sE Electronics, built for overheads, hi-hats and other demanding drum sources in the studio or on stage. Each capsule is individually tuned for a balanced, non-aggressive sound, and every pair is factory-matched for identical mic-to-mic performance.
Handcrafted True Condenser Capsule
Every capsule is handcrafted and individually tuned in sE's own factory. An ultra-thin 3 micron gold-sputtered diaphragm delivers superior transients, and the newly-developed backplate design keeps the sound smooth and natural with truly consistent off-axis response, avoiding coloration in demanding applications.
The Quietest Pencil Mic in its Class
A transformerless, proven Class-A circuit design without integrated circuits delivers extremely low self-noise along with a high dynamic range, excellent transparency and clarity, and brilliant transient response.
Two Pre-Attenuation Pads and Two Low-Cut Filters
Two switchable pre-attenuation pads at -10 dB and -20 dB extend the dynamic range for close-mic techniques on sources like snare drums and brass instruments. Two switchable low-cut filters at 80 Hz or 160 Hz help eliminate low-frequency rumble and footfall noise, and help compensate for proximity-effect bass build-up when close-micing.
Build and Accessories
The all-metal housing with gold-plated XLR connector provides efficient rejection of electrical interference and a loss-free, reliable connection for years to come. Each mic ships with a newly-designed mic clip. The sE8 Matched Pair comes complete with a precision stereo mounting bar, two protective wind screens, two mic clips, and a robust high-quality metal flight case.
