The BL8 can be placed inside the kick drum, either on its own or together with the sE Electronics VKick for a massive kick drum sound. It also works well on piano, Leslie cabinets, or placed on a table as a conference microphone. The mic is compatible with the Kelly Shu Flatz Isolation System (not included) for mounting inside the kick drum. For an omnidirectional pickup pattern suited to conference use, it can be paired with the sE8-omni capsule accessory.

Construction and Performance

The capsule is a hand-built true condenser with a frequency range of 20 Hz-20 kHz and an impedance of 60 Ohm. Sensitivity is rated at 25 mV/Pa (-32 dBV) with an 80 dB signal-to-noise ratio. The built-in low-cut filter can be set to 80 or 160 Hz (6 dB/octave), and the attenuation pad (0, -10 or -20 dB) allows the mic to handle maximum sound pressure levels of 143, 153 or 163 dB SPL respectively (0.5% THD @ 1 kHz). The BL8 connects via male XLR and runs on 48V phantom power.
