Vater Extended Play 5A with nylon tip is a hickory drumstick built to last longer without changing the feel. After 14 months of development, Vater created a construction that protects the stick exactly where it wears out fastest and stops it from snapping on rimshots. A solid pick if you play hard and hit a lot of rimshots but are tired of sticks breaking too soon.

Built to last

The upper part of the stick, where most sticks take the most abuse, is treated with a durable pearl-toned coating that resists wear and cracking. At the stick's midpoint sits the Stick Shield, a 3" section made from a material eight times stronger than steel. It lets the stick take repeated rimshots without snapping, one of the most common ways drumsticks fail.

Same feel as classic Vater sticks

The back of the stick has the same wood finish found on all Vater sticks, and you get the same balance and feel as Vater's standard hickory models – the difference only shows up over time, when Extended Play simply keeps going.
