S Family Dark. Dark and mysterious

The Dark series within Zildjian's S Family is a darker, more complex, trashier, and somewhat drier variant compared to the rest of the S-Family cymbals. The crashes are fast and explosive with controlled decay, the ride is clear and full with a penetrating bell, and the hi-hats offer fast response and great dynamics. The alloy is B12 (88% copper, 12% tin), and the individual hammering gives each cymbal its own sound and look. Yet the sound across the series remains highly consistent.

About Zildjian

Zildjian was founded in 1623 by the alchemist Avedis in Constantinople, who accidentally discovered an alloy with remarkable sound properties while trying to make gold. The name means "cymbal maker" in Armenian. In 1908, a later generation's Avedis emigrated to the USA and moved production to Boston, where collaborations with drummers such as Gene Krupa laid the groundwork for many of today's cymbal types.
