The Zildjian A Custom Projection Crash 18" is a thinner, hammered crash cymbal with a sound often described as "sweet" – neither too dark nor too bright. It's built to cut through in modern rock and pop settings without overpowering the rest of the kit.

The A Custom series is based on the classic A cymbals but made using a new hammering process that produces thinner cymbals. The series was developed together with Vinnie Colaiuta (Sting, Frank Zappa, Chick Corea) and tailored for modern rock and pop music.

Sound Character

The sound is fast and shimmering, with a short, distinct attack – the crash responds immediately and fades relatively quickly, making it easy to weave into a groove without ringing on too long. The Projection design adds extra cut, so the cymbal comes through clearly in a band mix without becoming dominant or overpowering.

Who It's For

A good choice if you play in rock or pop settings and want a crash that cuts through without sounding heavy or dark. Well suited if you're after a clear, short accent rather than a crash with a long, washy tail.
