Yamaha's patent-pending cymbal washer with a soft foam rubber outer layer and a firmer silicone rubber core. It lets the cymbal vibrate more freely than a conventional felt washer, with increased low-frequency output and enhanced sustain.
For even more sustain, remove the outer foam rubber and mount the cymbal using only the inner silicone core. According to Yamaha's frequency analysis, both volume and sustain are then further improved across the entire frequency spectrum. The washer goes on the bottom side, with a regular felt washer on top. The SECW8 is the same washer fitted to the CS8W, CS7, CH8, CH8S and CBW8.
