Yamaha CS8W
Product Description
The Yamaha CS8W is the top model in Yamaha's cymbal stand series, a double-braced boom stand built for fast cymbal changes and stable, precise adjustment. It features a patent-pending quick release nut, a new type of cymbal washer for extra sustain, a step-free tilter and a hinged boom clamp with memory lock. The boom arm stores inside the pipe, so the stand also works as a straight stand.
- Quick Release Nut (QRN8) attaches and detaches with a pinch
- Sound Enhanced Cymbal Washer (SECW8) for more sustain and low end
- Step-free tilter
- Hinged boom tilter clamp with memory lock
- Boom arm stores inside the pipe, usable as a straight stand
- Double-braced legs with large rubber feet
A nut that releases with a pinch
The Quick Release Nut (QRN8) is patent pending by Yamaha. Pinch the movable part on the side of the nut and it attaches and detaches instantly, making cymbal changes quick. Once attached, turn the nut to adjust how freely the cymbal can swing and resonate. A built-in locking mechanism holds the cymbal securely in place, and the screw is made of metal for long-lasting reliability.
A washer that gives the cymbal more sustain
The Sound Enhanced Cymbal Washer (SECW8) is a two-part washer with a soft foam rubber outer layer and a firmer silicone rubber core. The combination lets the cymbal vibrate more freely than a conventional felt washer. According to Yamaha's frequency analysis, it gives increased low-frequency output and enhanced sustain compared with felt. For even more sustain, remove the outer foam and mount the cymbal on the silicone core alone, which according to Yamaha improves both volume and sustain across the entire frequency spectrum. The washer sits underneath the cymbal, with a regular felt washer on top.
Hinged boom tilter clamp with memory lock
The hinged tilter clamp fastens the boom arm on three sides and only needs light tightening to hold. The memory lock mechanism puts the cymbal in the same place every time, and the receiver is shaped to fit the memory lock protrusion, reducing lateral play.
Boom or straight
The boom arm can be stored inside the upper pipe, so the stand can also be used as a straight stand, making it more compact to carry. The boom tilter is a high-precision type with strong holding power, and the step-free tilter lets you set the cymbal angle exactly.
Solid footing
The double-braced legs have large rubber feet. The leg base has a resin spacer for smooth, quiet movement, the clamp base holds without overtightening, and the wing nuts have a shape that is easier on the hands.
Who It's For
For drummers who want a heavy, stable boom stand with quick cymbal changes and more tone from the cymbal. The CS8W replaces the CS865 in Yamaha's line-up.
