The Vic Firth X55A American Classic® Extreme 55A is a hickory drumstick sized between a 5A and 5B, built with the extra length of the Extreme series. A good fit if you want more reach around the kit without stepping up to a thicker stick.

For over 30 years the American Classic® series has been a go-to choice for drummers, and players kept asking for longer versions of the popular models. The Extreme line answers that with an extra 1/2″ of length, giving increased leverage and reach without changing the diameter.

Material and construction

Turned from select American hickory — a dense wood with little flex for a more pronounced sound and the durability to withstand heavy shock. The tip is a wood Tear Drop shape, deeply back-cut for intensified cymbal response, and the taper is medium for a balanced feel between control and rebound. The stick is finished with lacquer.

Who It's For

A solid choice if a standard 5A or 5B feels a touch short for your setup, or if you simply want more reach and power in your strokes without going up in diameter.
