The Vic Firth American Classic 5B Vic Grip is a classic 5B with one key difference: the grip area is coated with a thin layer of rubber material that gives you noticeably better control of the stick. Great if your hands tend to get sweaty during long sets, or if you simply prefer the feel of a firmer hold without the stick feeling bulky.

Apart from the coating, this stick is identical to a standard American Classic 5B: turned from select hickory with a Tear Drop wood tip and a medium taper. Hickory is the go-to wood for drumsticks for good reason — it delivers a strong, focused sound, withstands heavy shock, and absorbs vibration well, making the stick durable even under hard playing.
