Vic Firth SMIL Signature Series Russ Miller Hi-Def

Product Description

The Russ Miller Hi-Def is Vic Firth's signature stick for session drummer Russ Miller, made from hickory with a unique Half Acorn wood tip. The tip design gives noticeably more clarity and attack in your cymbals, while an oval Sweet Spot logo at the nodal point helps you nail the exact same cross-stick placement every time. Sold per pair.

The Half Acorn tip for cymbal clarity

Russ Miller is a multi-platinum recording artist who has played on Grammy-winning records with combined sales of over 26 million copies, working with artists from Ray Charles, The Fifth Dimension and Tina Turner to Hilary Duff, Andrea Bocelli and The Psychedelic Furs. "In a past life," Russ explains, "I had to grind down my acorn tips to create better cymbal tones." His signature stick starts from that same half acorn shape, making a noticeable difference to the riding sound of your cymbals. More clarity and attack, like a Hi-Def booster for your cymbals and drums.

The Sweet Spot logo

Russ also ran into trouble during fast-turnaround studio sessions, where switching to cross-stick technique made it hard to consistently hit the exact spot needed for the full sound. To solve this, Vic Firth added a specially designed oval "sweet spot" logo at the nodal point, giving Russ. And you. A visible target to aim for and a perfect cross-stick tone every time.
