The RUTE-X Medium Gauge Rods (RXM) is Vic Firth's answer for players who want the rod sound but with a more stick-like feel. The handle is shaped like a regular drumstick in hickory, while the tip is made up of 11 medium-gauge birch dowels. The result is better control, clearer rimshots and the ability to play rim clicks compared to traditional rods.

Sometimes you want to bring the volume down or change the sound without losing your playing feel – that's where rods come in. Vic Firth built the RUTE-X with a solid hickory handle for a more stick-like feel, while the dowel tip keeps the classic rod sound.

This gives you better playing feel than traditional rods, along with a better sound on cymbals, clearer rimshots and the option of rim clicks. An incredibly useful stick that's almost a must in the stick bag.
