Vic Firth NE-1 American Classic - by Mike Johnston
Product Description
The Vic Firth NE-1 American Classic was developed together with Mike Johnston, one of the world's most respected drummers and online educators. The stick has a long taper and a diameter right between 5A and 5B, giving a carefully balanced feel between rebound and power. The barrel-shaped tip delivers a clean, defined cymbal sound.
The long taper – the narrowing section below the tip, sometimes called the stick's neck – is central to the design. It's balanced to combine rebound with power rather than favouring one over the other. The diameter sits deliberately between the common 5A and 5B sizes, so the grip feels right whether you're used to thinner or heavier sticks.
Tip and sound
The barrel-shaped tip is a big part of why the NE-1 sounds the way it does on cymbals – a round, defined attack without becoming harsh or clangy. Made from hickory for the rebound and durability the wood is known for.
