Vic Firth Modern Jazz 5
Product Description
The Vic Firth MJC5 Modern Jazz 5 is a hickory stick with the diameter of an 8D, a long taper, and a unique oval nylon tip. Together these give a well-balanced feel in the hand and an unusually clear, bright cymbal sound – ideal if you want every detail of your ride to cut through without the stick feeling heavy.
The stick measures 40.64 cm (406.4 mm) in length with a diameter of 1.37 cm (13.7 mm), made from hickory with a lacquer finish. The oval nylon tip blends elements of a barrel and an oval shape, giving a crisp, well-defined attack on cymbals while keeping the rest of the stick's feel responsive.
Part of the Modern Jazz Collection
The MJC5 is one of five models in Vic Firth's Modern Jazz Collection, developed together with drummers including Jeff Ballard, Greg Hutchinson, Joe McCarthy and Lewis Nash. These prototypes were staples in Vic Firth's back room for years before release, and despite the name, the team found them exceptional in almost any musical setting, not just jazz. The series is made from carefully selected hickory and checked to hold a consistently high standard.
