Vic Firth Jazz Rake - Black & Red
Product Description
The Vic Firth Jazz Rake BJR is a pair of brushes with thin, red plastic bristles and a plastic handle – a light, responsive brush suited for jazz and fusion drumming where a bright, airy sound is preferred over a heavy stick feel. The bristles retract directly into the handle, with no rod mechanism required.
The bristles are thin ("Thin" hardness rating), giving a light, sensitive response against both cymbals and drumheads. The grip surface is plastic, matching the handle, keeping the brush light in the hand for extended playing. The color combination is black and red.
Construction
Unlike many brush models with a metal rod for retracting the bristles, the Jazz Rake retracts directly through the handle mechanism, giving a simpler, sturdy build. Bristle spread is 10.16 cm (4").
Who It's For
A good choice if you play jazz, fusion, or other styles where you want a bright, airy brush sound and a light, quick handle. Less suited if you're after a heavier, metallic brush tone – a wire-bristle model would serve better there.
