Vic Firth AH5A American Heritage 5A
Product Description
The Vic Firth AH5A belongs to the American Heritage series – it shares the dimensions of the best-selling American Classic 5A, but is crafted in maple instead of hickory. Maple is lighter and flexes more than hickory, giving the stick greater rebound and a lighter, more "airy" feel, especially noticeable on cymbals. It's a favourite among jazz drummers, since maple produces a woodier ride sound with less ping and a slightly lower overall volume – ideal for smaller gigs and quieter settings.
The tip is a wood Tear Drop shape, which contributes to a richer, warmer cymbal sound compared to nylon tips. The taper is medium, balancing sensitivity and control. This lets drummers keep the feel and balance of their favourite American Classic model while changing the tone and colour of their sound.
American Heritage Series
American Heritage takes Vic Firth's most popular American Classic models and reproduces them in maple rather than hickory, for drummers who want the same grip and balance with a lighter, airier tone and reduced volume.
Vic Firth, founded by Everett "Vic" Firth in 1963, has long been regarded as one of the most trusted names in drumstick and percussion accessory manufacturing, offering everything from hickory sticks to brushes, rods, and mallets.
