Product Description
The Vic Firth 85A is often described as a "diet 5A" – a stick that combines the dimensions of an 8D and a 5A for a perfectly balanced feel with a lighter touch. It plays close to a standard 5A but sits a little slimmer and quicker in the hand, making it a great choice for jazz and fusion playing where you need to move around the kit effortlessly.
Like the rest of the American Classic® line, the 85A is turned from select hickory – a dense wood with little flex that produces a more pronounced sound while withstanding a lot of shock, making it highly durable. The wood tip is a Tear Drop shape, deeply back-cut for intensified cymbal response, giving a clear, defined attack. The stick has a medium taper and a lacquered finish.
