Vic Firth 5A Double Glaze

Product Description

The Vic Firth 5A Double Glaze is a drumstick from the American Classic line, turned from select American hickory and coated with a thick, specialized lacquer that gives a distinctly tacky feel. It's a great choice if you play with dry hands and want a bit more texture and mass to help you relax your grip, while keeping the familiar 5A feel.

Coating and feel

The DoubleGlaze coating is a specialized lacquer formula that creates a characteristically tacky surface. Players with especially dry hands will appreciate the enhanced lacquered surface, since it lets you relax your grip instead of squeezing harder. The thick coating also adds a bit of extra mass to the stick for a solid, consistent feel.

Build

The stick is turned from select hickory, a dense wood with little flex that gives a more pronounced sound while withstanding a great deal of shock. Highly durable in daily use. The tip is a wood Tear Drop tip, deeply back-cut for intensified cymbal response, and the taper is Medium, giving a balanced feel between control and rebound.

American Classic series

This model belongs to Vic Firth's American Classic line, which gathers the traditional, most-played stick models. The wood is carefully selected and checked to keep a consistent, high quality between pairs.

Who it's for

A solid pick if you already like the 5A format but want a firmer, more textured grip, especially if your hands tend to sweat or dry out during play.
