Product Description
The Vater Vinnie Colaiuta Signature is a lathe-turned hickory drumstick developed together with Vinnie Colaiuta himself over years of refining grip, taper and tip. The result is an all-round stick that covers a wide musical spectrum, from jazz to heavy rock, without sacrificing feel, sound or durability.
Grip and taper
The grip size starts at .590" [1.50cm], with a very subtle flare out to .600", then quickly back to .590" for a comfortable grip. Behind the grip, a precisely calibrated taper delivers great rebound.
Tip and sound
The stick is finished off with a medium-sized acorn tip for a full but defined sound, whether playing subtle jazz or heavier rock patterns.
Background
Vinnie Colaiuta worked closely with Vater's craftsmen, testing prototypes live, in the studio and on the pad, and even spent time at the factory lathe himself as modifications were made. The stick's length is a touch shorter than some classic models – a deliberate refinement of a familiar 15 15/16" [40.48cm] length Colaiuta had long favoured.
