Vater Beantown Brush - Reddish-brown
Product Description
The Beantown Brush is Vater's vintage-inspired brush, based on old-school models originally made for Jack Adams, Alan Vater's grandfather and the man behind Jack's Drum Shop in Boston. A thinner wire gauge gives more flex and a softer, classic swishy tone – ideal if you're after that old-school brush feel.
The story began when someone went through Jack Adams' old cases and found vintage brushes made specifically for him during his years running Jack's Drum Shop in Boston, where he both operated the shop and played jazz and big band himself.
Feel and Sound
The grip measures .530" (1.35 cm), giving the brush a lighter and quicker feel compared to heavier models. Combined with a thinner gauge wire, this gives more flex and a softer sound with plenty of classic swish tonality – that airy, characteristic tone associated with old-school brush playing.
Design
The reddish-brown rubber grip is a nod both to the vintage brush era and to Boston's nickname "Beantown", where Vater's drumstick-making history began in the basement of Jack's Drum Shop.
