Tama Superstar Classic CK52KRS-MGD - Midnight Gold Sparkle

Product Description

The Tama Superstar Classic CK52KRS-MGD is a 5-piece drum kit with wrapped maple shells finished in Midnight Gold Sparkle. The design draws on the legendary 70s Superstar series, with the same T-logo and classic-style lugs, but with modern, thin, resonant 100% maple shells that deliver full tone despite the affordable price.

Superstar Classic builds on the heritage of Tama's most iconic models while combining that classic look with today's construction. The shells are thin and resonant, and thanks to the Star-Cast mounting system the toms are free to vibrate without being choked by the mount. A difference you can really hear in how open and alive the kit sounds.

Construction

The toms and snare are built from 6-ply maple laminate, 5 mm, while the bass drum has a heavier 8-ply maple laminate shell, 7 mm. The Star-Cast Mounting System lets the toms vibrate freely for optimal tone, and the bass drum comes with a double tom holder using Tama's classic Omnisphere L-arm for great adjustability and a stable mount. The lugs are Low Mass Lugs in Tama's classic design, and the bass drum's claw hooks feature protective rubber spacers that reduce rattle and protect the finish.

Who It's For

A great choice if you want a drum kit with genuine classic character without paying flagship prices. The stock heads are perfectly usable, though they don't quite match the shells' sound potential. Swapping heads down the line will take the kit's sound even further.
