Toontrack Trip-Hop EZkeys MIDI

Product Description

Trip-Hop EZkeys MIDI is a MIDI pack from Toontrack built for EZkeys, drawing its melodies, chord progressions and grooves from the trip-hop genre. It gives you dark, cinematic moods and ready-made musical ideas to drag into your own productions, unattached to any specific sound since it's pure MIDI.

Emerging in the early '90s, trip-hop etched out a new niche between hip-hop, electronica, dub and soul. With magnetic hooks and hypnotic, dark and suggestive melodic layers, it slowed tempos down and put cinematic atmosphere at center stage, expanding on its roots in boom-bap and dub-infused grooves.

Content and structure

This pack explores each dimly lit corner of the genre to capture a cross section of its signature traits: mesmerizing melodies, brooding chord progressions and sticky motifs, all ready to drag, drop and pair with your favorite sounds. In total, ten "songs" are included, organized in folders labeled A, B and C. Each folder features four Themes and matching Pads sections, making it easy to run multiple EZkeys instances and build the evocative sonic landscapes that define trip-hop.

The material includes more than 200 individual files, performed by a professional session player. All variations are in 4/4 with a straight feel, at tempos ranging from 76 to 114 BPM.

Who it's for

A good choice if you want to add moody, cinematic piano parts to beats, hip-hop or downtempo productions without composing melodies and chords from scratch yourself. Unhurried but direct, introspective but equally expressive. The rest is up to you.
