Treeworks' EchoTree is a chimes instrument with an unusual tuning that creates a haunting, siren-like sound. 35 aluminum/titanium bars are hand-tied in a single row on a Tennessee Black Walnut frame, with each repeated sequence sitting a little lower in pitch than the last.

Sound Character

What makes the EchoTree unique is its tuning. It may look like the same five pitches are repeated over and over, but they're not. It begins with a group of five notes, and that group repeats seven times over. Each time the sequence repeats, it is lower in pitch, creating an effect reminiscent of a siren changing pitch as it passes you by. The result is a chime tree that feels alive and shifting rather than static.

Construction

The 35 bars are hand-tied using Treeworks' own braided cord, rated to hold up to 50 lbs. The manufacturer deliberately avoids plastic ties in the construction, giving a more durable and considered hanging system.

Who It's For

A great choice if you already own a standard chime tree and want a distinctive tonal color, for example in film scoring, ambient or meditative settings, or as an effects layer in a percussion setup.
