Product Description
The Gome Drum from Toca's World Percussion series is a cajon-like percussion instrument with origins among the Ga and Ashanti people of Ghana. Developed together with world percussionist Jamal Mohamed, it produces a sound spanning warm tones, cutting slaps and a powerful bass.
Construction
The body is built like a cajon in wood, but instead of a wooden playing surface it has a natural head mounted on a front plate. Head tension is adjusted via an integrated, innovative tuning system, letting you fine-tune the sound to taste. The front plate with the head is removable and can be replaced when needed.
Origin and Sound
The Gome Drum traces its origins to the Ga and Ashanti people of Ghana, Africa, and is a unique, versatile instrument suited for ensemble playing as well as solo performance. Its sound ranges from warm, full tones to cutting slaps and a deep, powerful bass.
