Product Description
The Toca Freestyle Talking Drum is an hourglass-shaped hand drum with a light yet sturdy PVC body, developed in collaboration with world percussionist Jamal Mohamed. Its two 7" drum heads are held by a new, improved tension rope that you squeeze while playing to slide between pitches, a defining feature of talking drums.
The drum has a traditional design and comes finished in African Mask. By pressing the tension rope between your arm and the drum body while striking it with the included beater, you can shape the pitch in real time, just as in the West African tradition the instrument comes from.
Construction
The body is made of PVC, unbelievably light yet sturdy, making the drum easy to carry and comfortable to hold through longer playing sessions. The drum is 16" long and has two 7" diameter drum heads, one at each end.
