Tar Frame Drum 20''
Persian frame drum 20" with metal jingle rings on the underside for a full, controlled sound.
Product Description
The Tar is a classic Persian frame drum, 20" in diameter, from Meinl Percussion. Metal rings on the underside add extra sound effects, giving the drum a full, controlled tone suited to Persian and Middle Eastern musical traditions.
The round frame with a head stretched across it is typical of this family of frame drums, and the metal rings on the underside add a layer of rattle and shimmer on top of the head's core tone. A sound often heard in traditional Persian percussion (also referred to as a DAF). At 20" in diameter, the drum offers a deeper, fuller register than smaller frame drums, while keeping the sound controlled rather than washy.
Who It's For
A good choice if you play or want to explore Persian and Middle Eastern percussion, or want to add a frame drum with a built-in sound effect to your collection.
