Tama Starphonic Walnut 14"x7" - Gloss Black Walnut Burl

Product Description

The Starphonic Walnut PWB147-GWB is a 14x7" snare drum from Tama built with a shell of thin walnut laminates. The construction gives a warm tone character with clear highs and an enhanced low end, and the drum responds well despite its considerable depth.

The shell is 6 mm thick and made of 7 plies of American Black Walnut with an extra outer ply of Black Walnut Burl, finished in Gloss Black Walnut Burl. The luxurious finish enhances the overall impression, and the drum delivers a rich tone even at soft dynamics.

Construction and Sound

The drum features the unique, thin Grooved Hoops at 1.6 mm with 10 lugs (Freedom Lugs). The hoops allow fast head changes while giving an open tone with round rim shots. The snare mechanism is the MLS50A/MLS50B, and the snare wires are MS20RL14C Super-Sensitive Hi-Carbon Steel Snare Wires, giving good snare response despite the drum's depth.

Who It's For

A good choice if you want a full, warm snare drum with clear highs and a powerful low end, and appreciate practical details like fast head changes.
