Tama Superstar Classic - Tangerine Lacquer Burst

Product Description

The Tama Superstar Classic CL32RZS-TLB is a 3-piece maple shell pack finished in Tangerine Lacquer Burst. The set nods to the legendary 70s Superstar design with the same T-logo and similar lug shape, but is built around the modern Star-Cast Mounting System that lets the toms resonate completely freely. A great choice if you want classic Tama character and real sound potential at an accessible price.

• 100% maple shells. 6-ply, 5 mm in the mounted tom and floor tom
• The bass drum shell is 8-ply, 7 mm
• Star-Cast Mounting System lets the toms vibrate freely for a fuller tone
• Low Mass Lugs with classic Tama styling
• Bass drum claw hooks feature protective rubber spacers
• Includes an MC69 single tom mount adapter

Construction and Sound

The shells are built entirely in maple, with 6 plies (5 mm) in the mounted tom and floor tom and 8 plies (7 mm) in the bass drum. The Star-Cast Mounting System suspends the toms in their own mount instead of attaching directly to the shell, giving more resonance and a fuller tone. The lugs (Low Mass Lugs) are small and light, styled after the classic 70s Superstar series, and the bass drum's claw hooks have rubber spacers that protect the hoop. The stock heads are perfectly fine but don't quite match the shells' full sound potential. A head upgrade down the line will bring out even more tone.

What's Included and Choosing Hardware

The set includes a 22x14" bass drum, a 12x8" mounted tom, and a 16x16" floor tom, along with an MC69 single tom mount adapter for the mounted tom. Hardware is not included. Recommended hardware pack: HC4FB together with HP50, or alternatively a complete hardware pack such as the Stage Master SM5W (2 cymbal stands, snare stand and hi-hat stand).

Who It's For

The Superstar Classic suits drummers who want vintage looks. Shape and lug design inherited from the original. Combined with modern construction and solid tone for the money. A safe choice both as a first real kit and as a complement to an existing setup.
