Product Description
The Tama Superstar Classic CK52KRS-NET is a 5-piece shell pack with 100% maple shells, finished in Natural Ebony Tiger Wrap. The kit takes visual cues from the legendary 70s Superstar series but is built with modern construction, including free-floating tom mounting for full tone despite the affordable price. A great choice if you want a kit with genuine sonic credentials without paying for brand prestige.
Construction
The toms and snare drum feature shells built from 6 plies of maple laminate, 5 mm, while the bass drum uses 8 plies of maple laminate, 7 mm. The Star-Cast Mounting System lets the toms vibrate freely from the stand for optimal sound. The lugs are Tama's classic Low Mass Lugs, and the bass drum's claw hooks have protective rubber spacers to reduce wear on the hoop.
What's Included
- 22"x16" bass drum
- 10"x7" tom
- 12"x8" tom
- 16"x14" floor tom
- 14"x6.5" snare drum
- Double tom holder with Tama's Omnisphere L-arm for solid adjustability and stability
A stand is not included. Tama recommends the SM5W hardware pack (double-braced), which includes 2 boom cymbal stands, a snare stand, a hi-hat stand and a bass drum pedal.
Who It's For
The stock heads are perfectly usable but don't quite match the shells' sonic potential. Swapping heads down the line will unlock even more of the kit's sound. Worth keeping in mind from the start.
