Tama Superstar Classic Exotic CL72RSP-GGP - Gloss Garnet Lacebark Pine

Product Description

The Tama Superstar Classic Exotic CL72RSP-GGP is a 7-piece drum kit built entirely from maple, designed with clear nods to the legendary 70s Superstar series. Despite its friendly price, it's built on thin, resonant maple shells and Tama's Star-Cast mounting system that lets the toms ring freely. A great choice if you want real drum sound without paying flagship prices.

• 100% maple shells for warm, resonant tone
• Star-Cast Mounting System. Toms vibrate freely for full tone
• Omnisphere tom holder with L-arm for precise, stable positioning
• Low Mass Lugs in classic Tama design
• Bass drum claw hooks with protective rubber spacers
• Classic 70s-inspired design with T-logo and matching lug style

Sound and Construction

The toms and snare are built from 6-ply maple, 5 mm thick, while the bass drum uses 8-ply maple at 7 mm. Combined with the Star-Cast mounting system, the thin shells let the toms resonate freely instead of being choked by the mount, delivering a fuller, more resonant tone than you'd expect at this price point. The stock heads perform well out of the box, but don't fully match the shells' sonic potential. Swapping heads later will unlock even more tone.

Hardware

The kit ships with Tama's MTH600 double tom holder and MC69 single tom holder, both built around the classic Omnisphere L-arm for solid adjustability and stable mounting. The lugs are Low Mass Lugs in a design echoing the 70s original, and the bass drum's claw hooks feature rubber spacers that protect the hoop during tuning.

Who It's For

A great choice if you want a complete drum kit with genuine maple shells and strong core tone, without paying flagship prices. Works equally well as a first real kit or an affordable upgrade.
