Tama Starphonic 14"x6" - Gloss Cherry Red

Product Description

The Tama Starphonic Concert Snare Drum is a 14x6" concert snare drum developed in close collaboration with classical percussionists. It shares the same 6 mm maple shell as the more exclusive Bravura model, but with a simpler and more robust snare setup. The result is an outstanding snare response, from the softest pianissimo to powerful forte with full body.

The shell is built from 6 mm, 7-ply solid maple (100% Maple). Unlike the other Starphonic models, which use a Grooved Hoop, the Concert models feature a straight-edged hoop, making the entire head surface playable. An important feature for concert snares where the full head is often used.

Hybrid Snare Wire

The snare wire is a 3-section design with an adjustable center. The center holds 6 strands of Nickel Wound Round Guitar String, flanked on each side by a cluster of 3 strands of Black Nylon Coated Stainless Steel Wire. This combination gives a snare response that holds together across the full dynamic range, from the finest touch to the most powerful hit.

Construction

The lugs are Freedom Lug type, and the hoops are Grooved Straight Hoops with 10 holes. The strainer is an MLS50A Linear-Drive Strainer with an MLS50B butt on the opposite side, giving a stable and reliable snare engagement.

Who It's For

Suited for players in classical, orchestral or other musical settings where a concert snare drum with wide dynamic range and a straight, fully playable hoop edge is needed.
