Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch - Turquoise Pearl

Product Description

The Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch shell pack, model WBR42S-TQP in Turquoise Pearl, is a hybrid drum kit that blends walnut and birch in the shells for a big fundamental tone and a solid low end. This four-piece kit is sold without a snare drum, giving you the freedom to pair it with a snare of your choice.

The walnut and birch combination gives the shells a clear, well-defined tone that's easy to tune, whether you prefer higher-tuned single-ply heads or lower-tuned, fat double-ply heads. The toms and floor tom use Star-Cast mounting to keep the shell free and resonant, while the Quick-Lock leg brackets double as a memory lock for fast, repeatable setup.

Construction

• Toms and floor tom: 6 mm shell, 4 plies of birch with 2 inner plies of Black Walnut
• Bass drum: 8 mm shell, 5 plies of birch with 2 inner plies of American Black Walnut
• Die-cast hoops for focused sound and easy tuning
• Cast claw hooks with rubber spacers on the bass drum
• Cushioned floor tom legs with an air pocket that preserve resonance

Sizes and included parts

The shell pack consists of four pieces: a 22"x16" bass drum, 10"x8" and 12"x9" mounted toms, and a 16"x14" floor tom. An MTH1000 double tom holder is included for mounting the toms on the bass drum. Note that this is a shell pack only. No snare drum is included.

Heads

The drums ship with Evans heads: the toms and floor tom use G2 Clear batter heads, and the bass drum uses an EQ4 batter head.

Who It's For

A good choice if you want to build a kit around a snare you already own, or add to an existing Starclassic setup. For a complete hardware package, Tama recommends the HV5WN stand pack for this kit.
