Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch 5-set - Surf Green Silk

Product Description

Starclassic Walnut/Birch is Tama's hybrid shell series combining walnut and birch, delivered here as a 5-piece shell pack finished in Surf Green Silk. The combination gives a big fundamental tone and a stable low end, while staying clear and easy to tune whether you run high-tuned single-ply heads or low-tuned, fat double-ply heads.

• Hybrid shell construction of birch and Black Walnut for a big fundamental tone and stable low end
• Clear, easy-to-tune sound that works for both high and low tunings
• Star-Cast Mounting gives a slimmed-down suspension system for better sound and easier positioning
• Quick-Lock floor tom legs with built-in memory lock
• Die-Cast Hoops for focused sound and easy tuning
• 2x MC69 Single Tom Attachment included

Construction

The rack toms and floor toms have a 6 mm shell built from 4 plies of birch and 2 inner plies of Black Walnut. The bass drum follows the same BD/Snare shell construction used across the series: an 8 mm shell with 5 plies of birch and 2 inner plies of American Black Walnut. The extra thickness on the bass drum gives a stable, focused low end. All shells feature Starclassic Lugs and Die-Cast Hoops, which keep tuning easy while giving a tight, focused sound.

Hardware and mounting

The rack toms use Star-Cast Mounting, a slimmed-down suspension system that frees up shell resonance and simplifies positioning. The floor toms sit on Quick-Lock leg brackets with quick-release, which also function as a memory lock for fast, precise remounting. The floor tom legs (Cushioned Floor Tom Legs) have an air pocket that lets the floor toms keep their resonance instead of losing it through the floor. The bass drum's Claw Hooks are die-cast and fitted with rubber spacers that protect the hoop.

Heads

The kit ships with Evans heads fitted: the toms carry Evans G2 Clear as batter heads, while the bass drum carries Evans EQ4 as its batter head.

Who it's for

Starclassic Walnut/Birch suits players who want a hybrid kit with both a clear attack and a stable low end, and who want the freedom to tune from bright and crisp to low and fat without losing clarity.
