Tama Star Walnut - Dark Mocha Walnut

Product Description

Tama Star Walnut is a walnut shell kit from Tama's premium Star series, built with thin shells that give a warm tone with clear attack and a fat low end. The kit comes in the Dark Mocha Walnut finish and consists of a 12" tom, a 14" floor tom and a 20" bass drum.

Walnut has a natural EQ with extra top and bottom register, giving the sound plenty of warmth. Tama has built on that with thin, stable shells that give a clean attack and a fat low end. A sound close to the attack of birch combined with the more spread-out warmth of maple shells.

Star Walnut shares its hardware with Star Maple and Star Bubinga, but does not include the Sound Focus Ring or the inlay option, which is also reflected in a lower price. The shell has the same STAR bearing edge bevel as the other Star models, making it just as easy to tune.

Construction

• Walnut shells: toms/snare 6-ply, 5 mm total. Bass drum 7-ply, 6 mm total.
• Bearing edge with a 3.5 mm counter-bevel for optimal head-to-shell contact.
• Super Resonant Mounting System. Minimal shell load for minimal impact on the sound.
• Die-Cast Hoops. Focused sound and easy to tune.
• Quick-Lock tom leg mount with quick-release that also functions as a memory lock.
• Floor tom legs with rubber feet for a floating mount and optimized sound.
• Bass drum spurs in two parts joined with a rubber bushing.
• Minimal Shell Contact. Lugs and hoops designed with minimal contact against the shell.
• Hold Tight™ washers with a nylon bushing, so the tension rods don't work themselves loose.

Who It's For

A good choice if you want a premium drum kit with a warm, clear tone and shells that are easy to tune, at a somewhat lower price than Star Maple and Star Bubinga.
