Shell and construction

The shell is 5 mm thick, built from a solid 2 mm maple core surrounded by cross-laminated maple on both the outside and inside. A 5 mm thick Sound Focus Ring adds stability to the otherwise resonant shell, and the inside is oiled. The bearing edge has a slightly larger counter-cut of 3.5 mm than standard, giving good contact between head and shell for a clean tone without losing brilliance. The snare drum has 3 air vents. The snare bed is widened, which reinforces the vintage-inspired sound character.

Snare mechanism and hardware

The drum features MLS50A/MLS50B Linear-Drive strainers with ratchet-type snare adjustment with tight settings on both sides. The snare wires are Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon, giving a solid low end and a crisp top register. The hoops are Die-Cast with 8 holes, giving a focused sound and making the drum easy to tune. The lugs and strainer are designed with minimal shell contact so the shell's resonance isn't dampened. The drum comes with a hand-crafted inlay on the outside at no extra cost (option S, e.g. TBT1008S). For an additional cost, an inner inlay on the Sound Focus Ring is also available (option D, e.g. TBT1008D).
