Tama Starclassic Performer M/B - Piano Black

Product Description

The Starclassic Performer M/B is a 5-piece shell pack with thin maple/birch hybrid shells, finished in Piano Black. This combination delivers focused sound with a clear attack, at home in the studio as well as on stage.

The pack includes a 22" x 16" bass drum, 10" x 7" and 12" x 8" rack toms, and 14" x 12" and 16" x 14" floor toms. Also included are 2 MC69 clamps/tom holders for mounting the rack toms.

Construction

The rack toms, floor toms and snare drum shells are 6 mm thick, built from 4 plies of birch and 2 plies of maple, while the bass drum shell is 7 mm thick with 5 plies of birch and 2 plies of maple. This thin, hybrid build responds well whether fitted with open single-ply heads or thicker double-ply heads.

Tom mounting and hardware

The Star-Cast mounting system is slimmed down and isolated from the shell for improved sound and easier positioning. The Star Quick-Lock tom holders feature a quick-release mechanism with a built-in memory lock and rubber bushings, working together with Star-Cast for maximum tone. The included MC69 clamps are based on the Star tom stand design and offer extensive adjustment options. The hoops are die-cast for a focused sound and easy tuning. The bass drum's claw hooks are die-cast with protective rubber spacers, and the floor toms stand on cushioned feet with an air pocket that keeps the sound from being choked.

Heads

The kit ships with Evans heads: a G1 Coated batter head on the toms and an EQ4 batter head on the bass drum.
