Product Description

The Tama Starclassic Performer M/B is a 4-piece shell pack with maple/birch hybrid shells, finished in Dark Cherry Fade. The hybrid mix delivers a focused sound with a clear attack, suited for both studio and live use. The set includes a bass drum, two mounted toms and a floor tom, complete with Tama's Star-Cast mounting system and an MTH800 double tom holder.

• Focused sound and clear attack thanks to the maple/birch hybrid shell
• Star-Cast mounting for freer resonance and flexible tom placement
• Quick-Lock tom mounts with quick release that also work as a memory lock
• Die-Cast hoops that are easy to tune
• Claw hooks with rubber spacers on the bass drum protect against damage
• Cushioned floor tom legs with an air pocket preserve the floor tom's sound

Construction

The mounted toms and floor tom (TT/FT/SD) have thin 6 mm shells built from 4 plies of birch and 2 plies of maple, while the bass drum has a 7 mm shell of 5 plies of birch and 2 plies of maple. This thin, hybrid build is known for delivering a focused sound whether fitted with open single-ply heads or fat double-ply heads.

Hardware and mounting

The Star-Cast mounting system is slimmed down for good sound and flexible tom placement. The Star Quick-Lock mounts have rubber bushings and a quick release that doubles as a memory lock, so the toms return to the exact same position every time. The set ships with an MTH800 double tom holder with ball rod for mounting the two rack toms. The hoops are Die-Cast for a focused sound and easy tuning. The bass drum has cast claw hooks with protective rubber spacers, and the floor tom stands on rubber feet with a built-in air pocket so it doesn't lose its sound.

Heads

The set ships with Evans heads: the toms have a G1 Coated batter head and the bass drum has an EQ4 batter head.

Who It's For

A great choice if you want a versatile drum kit with clear attack and focused sound, whether you play in a rehearsal room, studio or on stage.
