Dragonfly Percussion Drum Stick Topper - Soft (flannel)

Product Description

A soft flannel stick topper that slips securely onto the tip of any medium drum set stick, turning it into a mallet. Built on a traditional Austrian timpani mallet design of tightly stacked cloth layers, it opens up a whole new palette of timbres for your drums and cymbals.

Tackle by Dragonfly is the result of a long-distance collaboration between drummer and craftsman Scott McPherson (Tackle Instrument Supply Co.) and orchestral percussionist and mallet-maker Dinesh Joseph (Dragonfly Percussion). Scott's rock drumming background (Elliott Smith, Beck, Bright Eyes) came together with Dinesh's orchestral career (Buffalo Philharmonic) to create a totally new kind of drum set accessory.

Construction and sound

The topper fits securely onto the tip of any medium drum set stick and is based on the traditional Austrian timpani mallet design of tightly stacked layers of cloth. The result is a drum set mallet that sounds and feels far superior to a felt-covered timpani stick, and is way more durable. The series comes in hard leather, medium canvas and soft flannel. This model is the soft flannel version, bringing a darker, rounder tone to drums and cymbals.

Who It's For

A good choice if you want to expand your tonal palette without swapping out your whole stick setup, for sections that call for a softer, more velvety mallet sound on cymbals and drums.
