Tama Superstar Classic CK50RS-MGD - Midnight Gold Sparkle

Product Description

The Tama Superstar Classic CK50RS-MGD is a complete 5-piece drum kit with 100% maple shells finished in Midnight Gold Sparkle. The look is inspired by the legendary Superstar series of the 1970s, but the construction is modern, with Star-Cast mounting letting the toms ring freely for their full tonal potential. A kit that stands on its own sonic merits, regardless of price.

• Bass drum 20x16"
• Rack toms 10x7" and 12x8"
• Floor tom 14x14"
• Snare drum 14x5.5"
• Double tom holder included

Construction

The toms and snare drum shells are built from 6-ply maple laminate, 5 mm, while the bass drum shell has 8 plies of maple laminate, 7 mm. Thin, resonant 100% maple shells give the kit its voice. The Star-Cast Mounting System lets the toms hang freely so they can vibrate unrestricted, delivering more tone and sustain than a traditional fixed mount.

Hardware

The bass drum features a double tom holder (Omnisphere Tomholder) with Tama's classic Omnisphere L-arm, giving excellent adjustability and a stable mount for the rack toms. The lugs are Low Mass Lugs in classic Tama styling, and the bass drum's claw hooks come with protective rubber spacers that reduce the risk of damage to the hoop.

Heads

The kit ships with heads that perform well out of the box, but that don't quite match the full sonic potential of the shells. Swap the heads down the line and the tone opens up even further. The shells have more to give.

Who It's For

A great choice if you want a complete drum kit with a classic look and genuine maple tone, without overpaying. Works well both for building your first real kit and as a stylish backup set with a solid foundation of sound.
