Superior Drummer 3
Product Description
Superior Drummer 3 is Toontrack's complete drum production studio in software form. You get more than 230 GB of acoustic drum samples engineered by George Massenburg, a full mixer with 35 built-in effects and a tool that converts drum audio to MIDI. Connect your e-kit or program your tracks in your DAW and get professional drum sounds. Delivered as a download, with your licence key sent by email within seconds.
The Sound
The core library was recorded at Galaxy Studios in Belgium, one of the quietest recording spaces of its size in the world, with George Massenburg at the helm. Every drum is sampled with a very large number of velocity layers, and room microphones, surround channels and bleed are available as separate channels. In practice, this means the drums respond to your playing the way a real kit does. Seven kits, 25 snares, 16 kicks and 32 cymbals are included, plus approximately 350 electronic sounds, and you can add more with Toontrack's SDX expansions.
Mixer, Effects and Tracker
The mixer has 22 channels, 32 internal busses and 16 stereo outputs, so you can send every drum separately to your DAW or finish the mix in the program. The 35 built-in effects sit directly in the channel strips, and there are more than 67 mix-ready presets to start from. You can also import your own samples and stack sounds for your own sound design. With Tracker, you drop in recorded drum audio, let the program analyse it and get MIDI back that you can blend with or use to replace the original sounds.
For Electronic Drummers
The software works with most DAWs, such as Cubase, Pro Tools, Reaper and GarageBand, and also runs standalone. E-drum presets and mapping presets for most drum module brands get you playing quickly. On the dedicated e-drum settings tab you fine-tune velocity response, hi-hat pedal openness and Snare Zone Control. The result is an e-kit that sounds and feels as expressive as an acoustic one.
The Difference from EZdrummer
EZdrummer is the little brother and Superior Drummer is the big brother. Here you get a large number of separate channels, you choose which microphones are used, add effects and control the whole signal chain. For professional recordings, we recommend Superior Drummer. If you already own EZdrummer, a separate crossgrade version is available.
Delivered as a Download
Once you have ordered, you receive an email with your serial number and a download link. The basic package is approximately 41 GB. The complete library with room microphones, surround and additional bleed comes to approximately 236 GB. If you would rather skip that download, an SSD drive with all the files is available to buy. The software licence is then purchased separately.
