28" Evans Strata Cons
Synthetic orchestral head with calfskin feel. Open, full tone. Available in 0.25/0.35 mm, with or without Power Center.
Product Description
The Evans Strata Cons is a synthetic orchestral timpani head measuring 28", with a surface designed to give the feel of genuine calfskin. It produces an open, full tone suited to timpani where a warm, natural character is wanted, while offering far better weather stability than real calfskin.
The head is available in two thicknesses. The thinner 0.25 mm option gives a slightly more dynamic response, while the thicker 0.35 mm option provides a clearer attack. It can also be ordered with or without Power Center, a center reinforcement that focuses the tone and brings out the low end.
Who It's For
A good choice for timpanists who want the tonal character of calfskin without the humidity and tuning-stability challenges that come with the real thing.
