The Snareweight M50 Black is a permanent drum damper that attaches magnetically to the hoop, giving you instant control over your drum's ring. It shortens sustain without killing the tone, making it ideal for fine-tuning snares and toms.

Construction

The weighted mass is made from #5 brass combined with genuine patent leather, 1.3 mm thick. The surface is waterproof and can look a bit like plastic, but it's actually a very tough leather. The detachable mass is weighted and balanced to make the right contact with your drumhead without damaging it.

Sound character

The M50 is the most targeted damper Snareweight makes, well suited for touch-ups on snare drums and toms. It removes some of the ring while keeping the shell open around the rim, adding a bit of crisp clarity and compression to the attack. Compared to a folded-up M1b, the M50 gives slightly more dampening since it sits a fixed distance from the rim. But it won't dampen all the ring, just tighten it up.

Compatibility

The M50 works with most drum sizes, for example 8", 9", 10", 12", 13", 14", 16" and 18", and is compatible with triple flange hoops, die cast hoops, angel hoops, true hoops, and 1/4" wood hoops.

Our Tips

• For heavier dampening on a floor tom, the manufacturer recommends the M80 instead. The M50 is built for lighter touch-ups on snare and toms.
