The Tama SLP Classic Dry Aluminium (LAL1455) is a wonderfully dry snare drum with crisp snare response and a big, characterful tone. The rolled 1.2mm aluminum shell isn't a volume monster, but it covers everything from low-tuned country tones to soulful pop. A solid choice if you want distinct vintage character without sacrificing tuning stability.

Sound Character

The shell delivers a dry, personal tone with crisp snare response. The Super Sensitive snare wires give excellent ghost strokes, and the woody rimshots come from the 8-hole Steel Mighty hoops. The result is a sound close to the classic vintage originals – a great match if you're a fan of Bo Diddley and James Brown.

Construction and Tuning Stability

Despite the vintage-inspired tone, the drum has a well-functioning strainer mechanism (MCS70A/MCS70B) and holds its tuning even under heavy rimshots. It comes fitted with an EVANS G1 Coated batter head and a matching snare-side head.
