Sixties Pop Grooves is a MIDI pack from Toontrack featuring more than 500 individually played drum grooves and fills inspired by the ’60s pop and rock revolution. Performed by a session drummer, the pack covers 4/4 and 6/8 time signatures in straight, swing, ’60s latin and rock ’n’ roll shuffle feels, with tempos ranging from 68 to 178 BPM. A great way to lay a genuine, lived-in foundation under your ’60s-inspired pop songs.

Transitioning from rhythm and blues, rock ’n’ roll and soul to a more open sound, the ’60s pop era is one of blurred lines when it comes to drums. Drummers like Bobby Orr, Mick Avory, Keith Moon, Levon Helm, Charlie Watts, Mitch Mitchell and Ringo Starr in many ways rewrote the role the drums used to have in a pop or rock song. Much like in a jazz setup, the drums moved to the forefront of the sound and became a pivotal part of the overall expression.

Sixties Pop Grooves takes off in the wake of this era and explores its seemingly infinite fount of treasures. Expect a cross section of what pop was during this decade. And then some, with grooves that occasionally venture outside the confines of a single genre, just as the music itself did back then.
