Seventies Prog Grooves

Product Description

Seventies Prog Grooves is a MIDI pack from Toontrack featuring drum grooves and fills inspired by the vivid 1970s prog rock scene. The pack covers time signatures from 4/4 all the way up to 11/8, giving you a broad foundation of grooves to spice up your songwriting without overcomplicating things.

By the end of the 1960s and continuing well into the late '70s, bands like Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Kansas, Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Genesis and Styx were in the vanguard of a musical shift in rock. Uncommon time signatures, long solos, technical passages and dragged-out instrumental parts became not only common but widely accepted, especially in the drumming. Drummers like Neil Peart, Phil Collins, Bill Bruford and Alan White set a bar that still inspires today.

Seventies Prog Grooves takes off from that legacy, but the main idea behind it was to keep it plain, simple and easy to understand despite the unusual time signatures. It's a great fit for anyone looking to add some basic, tight and classy drumming to their songwriting.
