Product Description

The sE Electronics X1 R is a vintage-modern hybrid ribbon microphone that combines the inherent smoothness of a hand-crafted ribbon with far more durability and ease of use than traditional ribbons. Drawing on technologies from sE's VR1 and VR2 ribbon mics, the X1 R can handle high SPL without falling apart, making it a ribbon mic you can actually take on the road. It suits guitar cabs, overhead drums, brass, woodwind, strings, commercial broadcast and voice-over work.

Construction

The generating element is a hand-tensioned 2.5µm aluminum ribbon, enclosed by top-grade neodymium magnets. sE has combined its traditional ribbon technology with mechanical elements from the VR1/VR2 HF extension technology, giving the mic a classic ribbon sound with a gentle HF lift. Sound and use

The X1 R doesn't quite offer the full-frequency response performance of the VR1, VR2, or the widely acclaimed Rupert Neve Signature Series RNR1. But its hybrid old and new ribbon technology gives you all the natural beauty of the ribbon sound, with more versatility and ease of use than the majority of ribbons on today's market.

The X1 R comes standard with a mic clip that securely attaches it to any mic stand, and it also fits the Isolation Pack if a shockmount solution is desired (sold separately).
